Looking forward, Looking back (or, Blogiversary and a contest)

Well, 1 year ago today, I began this blog. I quickly thought up a few names and found one that wasn't taken, and started my Blogger existence. I started with a humble entry and found I had lots to say - especially at the beginning, when I wanted to review a bunch of knitting I'd been doing while I didn't have a blog but read knitting blogs.

It's been a fun year - meeting more people through blogs (because now I have an address on the Internet), and sharing my blog with friends and family. I've met Rhonda, Kadiddly, and Inky in person, people I'd never run into casually. I've learned to take pretty good pictures with my camera, started a Flickr account, printed MOO cards to use as blog calling cards, and become the one in the family most versed in Internet community technology.

Looking forward, I'm happy to feel back in the swing of blogging again. In fact, I was a little sad my blogiversary came up so soon after the holidays, because I have so many blogging ideas in my head (which I'm sure will be gone tomorrow....) I'm looking forward to knitting more in 2008, especially baby items, and maybe even getting an early start on Christmas presents. However, I'm not going to push myself by joining any KALs or anything - just taking things as they come.

Thank you, all of you who read my blog, offering support and enthusiasm! It's so nice to get to know you through your comments and by looking at your blogs!

Now on to the contest! A while ago, I won a contest over at Brenda's blog, her pre-blogiversary contest, where I suggested what her real blogiversary contest would be. I like that idea so much, that I'm going to repeat it here.

What is your favorite FO of 2007? You can leave a link in the comments ON THIS POST to your blog write-up of it, or your Ravelry project page (blog write-up is better, because some people are still not on Ravelry), or create a new blog write-up of it. If you do not have a blog, write about it in the comments and link to a photo if you have one online, or consider starting a blog!

I'll give a prize to an entry chosen at random, and maybe other prizes as I see fit. The contest ends Sunday night, January 13, midnight PDT.

Note: Blogger has updated its software so that it permits people using other blogger software to include links to their blogs, so in most cases I will be able to contact you through your blog. If you do not have a blog, or do not think you have left a link to your blog, please check back to see if you've won. If you're not sure, you can drop me an email - click on "View my complete profile" to get it.

Congrats, Kim!!

I have to say that my favorite knit of 2007 is my JIT Hat. Not because it is the item I use most or anything like that but because The Daily Knitter showcased the link as their Pattern of the Day yesterday. I'm tickled pink.

Happy blogiversary!!!

And how timely - I was just reviewing my FOs for 2007 and thinking about what my favorite project was. It's a tie, I think, between the Monsoon Elegance Socks I knit for my SIL for Christmas (which she loves very, very much) and the refined raglan for me.

Happy Blogiversary! I am glad you have gotten so much out of blogging and you have learned how to link within a comment, something I am not sure of... My favorite FO for 2007 is probably Seraphim: http://burrobird.typepad.com/burrobird/2007/09/finishitis.html

Happy blogiversary!

I'd say that my favorite project of 2007 is The Black Knight that I knit for my sweety. I made up the pattern on my own and am still amazed at how it turned out.

My favourite knit of 2007 has to be the Cobblestone--I actually finished it and have been using it quite a lot this winter. here is the link:http://visualisepeace.blogspot.com/

Congratulations on your first blogiversary! My favourite FO must be my Monkey socks - they were the perfect blend of great pattern, delicious yarn, and very wearable. Perfect! Great idea for a contest - I'm going to keep checking the comments for pattern ideas!

My favorite FO for 2007 was the Luna Moth Shawl. http://heideho.wordpress.com/2007/09/25/mid-week-catch-up/
It was a spur of the moment knit that just happened to turn out way better than I'd hoped.
Happy Bloggiversary!

Oh - so hard to decide! But probably my Latvian-style mittens because they were my first color-work project and they turned out so cute.

What a great idea for a blog contest!

This is great! My favorite knit this year (the first full year I've been a knitter) was my Poppy. I'm sorry I don't have a better picture, at least one of me wearing it, because the best thing is that it fits! And is beautiful! And interesting construction, and new techniques, and on and on.

Happy blog birthday! May another year of great blogging lie ahead of you!

My favorite FO of 2007 was the Wonderful Wallaby sweater I knit for my two-year-old daughter. I knit the whole thing while on vacation in Vermont (one of my favorite places), used Rowan All-Seasons Cotton (a lovely yarn to work with), and followed a well-written pattern. And the best part is that my daughter loved it and wore it as soon as it was off the needles! Yippee!

No question, my favorite FO in 2007 was my Hypoteneuse scarf. Sorry, I have to give you a Ravelry link because I can't find the story on my blog--it's somewhere!

Hi there and happy blogiversary! I am still learning the joy of blogging, but i'm getting there.
Hmm...i think my fav fo for 2007 would be the piggy tail turtlenech hat. I even just got a note from the girl i knit it for saying her fiance has no problem finding her on the ski slopes with her hat & that she loves it. Kudos!

Happy blogiversary! I still have nine months or so to go until my one year date!

My favorite item this year: Saartje's Baby Booties. So cute, so quick, so impressive to non-knitters when they were done. Can't wait to see them on the baby.

hmmmmmmmmm tough question but I think the one that makes me happiest is also something incredibly simple - my tea-shirt. I still get a kick out of that pun :]

My most prized knit for 2007 is definetely these turkish pattern mittens (http://caflygrl.blogspot.com/2007/02/spread-yarn-love.html) I made for my friend! (You have to scroll down halfway.) They were my first real colorwork and first mittens. I can't beleive I gave them away!! I'd steal them back but they were a tad snug on me so I guess they have a rightful owner.

Oh, At first I thought I was supposed to tell you which of YOUR fO's was my favorite. You mean, which one of my own is my favorite. Hmmmmm. Anything log cabin. Log cabins hypnotize me.

Happy Blogaversary

Happy Blogiversary!

My favorite FO is the Lattice Log Cabin Baby Blanket (first one in my FO post). It reminded me how much I love knitting (after a longish period of being seduced away by other crafts), because I designed it more or less on the fly and it worked, and last but not least, it got 9 skeins of ultrafine pastel baby yarn that I disliked out of my stash (yes, a yarn I disliked and I still love the finished project- miraculous!).

Congrats!

My favorite project of 2007 was Lizard Ridge. It's on Ravelry here: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/cashmeredreams/lizard-ridge

and a post is here:http://kitchencotton.blogspot.com/2007/08/minnesota-state-fair.html

It's the largest object that I've ever knit! :)

I have neither a blog nor an online photo of any of my projects, so I'm not sure if this will count, but I think my favourite FO of 2007 is one of my several pairs of Thuja socks - the one that's all different shades of blue. They are cozy and warm and it makes me happy to look at them too.

Happy blogiversary!
